At Greene Towne Montessori School, children work and play in classrooms, the kindergym, and outside play areas that are comfortable and secure. Every aspect of Greene Towne stimulates creativity and learning. The unique Montessori educational materials inspire each child’s absorbent mind fostering independence and self-directed learning in an inviting mixed-age community. Whether writing a short story with the movable alphabet, serving a snack, or taking pictures of their school for a photography exhibit, boys and girls are motivated to engage in their world.

Greene Towne’s East and West locations in Logan Square are convenient for parents and caregivers. For Kindergarten children the city is an extension of the classroom. A field trip to the hospital will let your child see the inside of an ambulance. At the farm they will discover how their lunch gets from field to market. A visit to an art gallery inspires their creative imaginations to soar.

In the fall of 2001, after 35 years of leasing space in the nearby Saint Clement’s Church, we moved into our own home, a century-old building on Arch Street, thoughtfully designed as a Montessori environment by architect Ed Bronstein. The Philadelphia Inquirer described the building as “one of the most artful and inventive new buildings to show up in Center City in the last few years.”*

In the fall of 2008, Greene Towne opened GTMS West, home of our Toddler House and All Day Montessori programs.
